Where is Mardi Gras?

The Mardi Gras Entertainment District includes 20th – 25th Streets and Harborside Drive to Mechanic Streets. This area includes more than 15 square blocks. Daytime parades also take place along Seawall Blvd.

Is there a theme for Mardi Gras! 2014?

There is no official theme for Mardi Gras. Each krewe decides on an individual theme annually.

I need a hotel. Where can I stay?

We have many hotels on the island to fit all tastes and budgets. We encourage people looking for a hotel room to either book through www.mardigrasgalveston.com or contact the hotel’s direct location in Galveston.

Besides hotels what are other accommodation options?

Yes. There are condominiums, bed-and-breakfasts and beach house rentals on the Island. Please check www.galveston.com/lodging for contact information or to book direct.

What is Mardi Gras attire?

Come in costume or dressed for a chill in the air. Wear comfortable shoes and remember security and safety at all time.

How do I become a Mardi Gras! 2014 vendor?

How do I enter my float or group into a Mardi Gras! 2014 parade?

Each Krewe is responsible for the operation of the parades. Please contact the krewe directly for information on being a part of a parade. Contact information can be found here. To enter your float, band or party bus in most Downtown parades, contact Charlie Olsen at ceobugman@att.net.

Please do not bring the following items into the Historic Downtown Strand District with you to Mardi Gras! Galveston:

  • No Cans

  • No Alcohol (alcohol is sold at the festival)

  • No Food or beverages, except for 2 factory sealed water bottles up to 1 liter each

  • No Silly String

  • No Glass Containers/Bottles

  • No Coolers

  • No Skateboards

  • No Roller Blades

  • No Bicycles

  • No Scooters

  • No Backpacks

  • No Weapons

  • No Large Umbrellas

  • No Fireworks or explosives

  • No Large chains or spike jewelry

  • No Pets (except service dogs)

  • No Outdoor/Indoor Furniture

  • No Professional still camera equipment. No detachable lenses, tripods, big zooms or commercial use rigs

  • No Professional video equipment.

  • No Illegal vending is permitted. No unauthorized/unlicensed vendors allowed.

  • No Unauthorized solicitations, handbills, sampling, give-aways etc...

Are tickets to the Entertainment District required for children?

Admission to the Entertainment District is FREE for children under 12 with parent or guardian.

Welcome to the Mardi Gras Galveston (Galveston Island Convention & Visitors Bureau/ Yaga’s Entertainment Inc.) website.
