Galveston 2006 Parade Schedule Saturday, February, 18, 2006 Mystic Krewe of Aquarius Mardi Gras Kickoff Parade - The Mystic Krewe of Aquarius will honor the 2006 Royal Couple, Budd and Carolyn Field, with “A Salute to the American Film Industry”. The big parade will begin at 12:00 noon at 14th and Seawall. The colorful hour-and-a- half parade will make its way to 57th Street. The 2006 parade will feature spectacular floats and 20 high school marching bands and drill teams from southeast Texas. This will be the 170- member Krewe’s 19th annual parade. Saturday, February 25, 2006 Krewe de Esprit Rosaire Procession and Grand Finale – The Grand Finale with the Battle of the Bands, and Yard party. Battle of the Bands from 9am-10:30 at Menard Park on 27th and Seawall and the Parade begins at 11am at 27th and Seawall down Seawall to 31st and down 31st to Avenue N at Holy Rosary Catholic Church where there will be food, drinks crafts! Z Krewe 11th Z Processional - 1:00pm. Z Krewe zany members and Royalty parades through the Strand District perpetuating the spirit of Mardi Gras. Z Krewe is proud to announce the Philadelphia Mummers will be joining the Processional this year, along with bands, and zany members of other krewes and clubs. Big Daddy Frank Godek and Big Momma Jeannine Dienst will lead this crowd of bead throwing zanies. The parade route will begin at Mechanic and 25th, travel along Mechanic to 21st, then proceed up Strand to 25th. Knights of Momus Grand Night Parade - 6:30 p.m. Floats, Mummers, marching bands, dignitaries, bead throwing, etc. Parade starts at Seawall Boulevard and 21st Street, turns right on 25th Street and continues to Mechanic Street. Right on Mechanic Street to 20th Street, turn left on 20th to the Strand. Left on Strand and end at the Railroad Museum, public viewing, no charge. Sunday, February 26, 2006 7th Annual Krewe of Barkus and Meoux Mardi Paws Parade - 1:00pm, Line up at noon. A parade for animals dressed in their Mardi Paws best. Pets of all shapes and sizes are welcome (horses, pigs, rabbits, iguanas, monkeys, etc.). Parade begins at 25th and Ave. M., proceeds north to Shearn Moody Plaza, turns left and ends at 26th Street. Mardi Gras Children’s Parade - 2:00pm, Firefighters Local 571 hosts a parade dedicated to the families and children of Galveston. The parade celebrates Mardi Gras with costumed kids and decorated floats. Parade begins at Ave. N and 25th, and proceed to the Railroad Museum. Pre-registration for parade participation is required. This all Krewe parade celebrates the final hours of the 2005 Mardi Gras. The parade is a favorite among locals and features numerous lighted floats and marching bands.
